Airbus flexed its narrowbody muscles at the Dubai Airshow by landing a massive order from Indigo Partners for 430 A320neo family aircraft in a deal worth $49.5 billion at list prices. The order is the largest ever by volume eclipsing IndiGo’s (the Indian LCC unrelated to Indigo Partners) order for 250 A320neo aircraft in 2015.

Indigo Partners is a private equity firm that invests in various LCCs around the world including Frontier Airlines, WizzAir, Jetsmart, and Volaris.

“This significant commitment for 430 additional aircraft underscores our optimistic view of the growth potential of our family of low-cost airlines, as well as our confidence in the A320neo Family as a platform for that growth,” said Indigo Partners Managing Partner Bill Franke. “Our airlines know that a great aircraft coupled with a great business plan will create value for our customers. We look forward to bringing comfort and low fares to more passengers around the world as Wizz Air, Volaris, JetSMART and Frontier continue to expand.”

Under the deal, Hungary-based budget carrier WizzAir will receive 72 A320neos and 74 A321neos, U.S. LCC Frontier airlines will take delivery of 100 A320neos and 34 A321neos, Chilean LCC startup Jetsmart will receive 56 A320neos and 14 A321neos, while Mexican LCC Volaris will receive 46 A320neos and 34 A321neos.

After lagging behind Boeing much of the week in the orders category, Airbus is finishing out the Dubai Airshow with a bang. While Boeing immediately countered the Indigo Partners deal by snagging an order for 175 737MAX aircraft from FlyDubai, Airbus also announced lessor CDB Aviation has firmed up its order 90 A320neo aircraft.

So far, Airbus has sold $52 billion worth of aircraft at list prices compared to Boeing’s $35.9 billion at the Dubai Airshow.
